Now I can't imagine life unless my stepson is around. It was never a problem and I have never had a problem with my stepson's mom until recently. She has another child who until recently we thought was someone else's child. Her mom brought it up to my husband saying she looks just like him and hasn't it ever crossed his mind this little girl is his? I had seen the resemblance but never questioned it. This also didn't cause problems being that this child came along before we got together or even met. I was aware that when they separated they still had a sexual relationship while she was in another relationship, so she never really knew who the father was and never tried to find out. She told my husband she wasn't his and he believed her.
My husband has not been there for his daughter sooner because he wasn't given the chance to be her father. I think it is better to find out whether he is her father so if she is his than they can have a relationship. Is he wrong for wanting to know if he has a daughter? It's not like they can't have a relationship, this child is only 3 1/2 yrs old. It is not him who is causing a big disruption in her life. I am assuming the mom is upset because it might be causing problems with her current man. |

Well, the day her mother made the comment about the kid being his, I told him to ask for a paternity test so if she ends up being his than he can be there for her like he is for his son. He requested the test and for some reason it was put off by the attorney general's office for a year. They went in for the test this past week and we'll get the results in December. He and the child's mother got into a big argument because the man she has been with for the past year has the little girl calling him dad. She told my husband she already has a father and doesn't need him in her life.
