I told my mother and although she was disappointed, she supported me in my decision to keep my baby. Once my daughter was born she helped me to take care of her. I didn't have to quit school to take care of my daughter and was fortunate enough that my high school had a daycare program. I graduated high school with honors and started taking courses at a community college. I studied really hard and took nursing classes to be able to provide for me and my daughter. 

As much as I love her I wish that she learned by watching how hard it was for me to take care of a child at an early age. I had the sex talk with her when she was 12 and thought we were on the same page.I believed I got through to her but now she is going to be a young mother just like me. I was hoping and praying she wouldn't follow my footsteps but here we are.

We discussed the choices she has regarding her pregnancy and the baby. She does not want to put the baby up for adoption and abortion is definitely out of the question. In her case the baby's father and his parents will be helping out as much as they could, so I'm told...but I won't hold my breath. I'm prepared to be there to help my daughter out just like my mother was there for me.

Her baby is due in just five short months and we're hoping he or she will be healthy and the rest will work itself out. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine someone would be calling me grandma when I'm in my 30's.
