Lyme Disease and Weight Gain PDF Print E-mail

I always took good care of myself, until I moved to Indiana. I got so sick and didn't find out why for months. Then I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. I tried to eat right but I gained weight anyway. I put on 60 lbs. over the last 8 years. Every summer my legs swell and sometimes my face does too.

I've been on a strict diet consisting of only fresh vegetables, fruits and nuts. Sometimes I eat hamburger(about once a month), I do natural chicken 3 or 4 times a month. I drink water, 1 cup of coffee and green tea. It seems that when you have Lyme disease, you either lose a lot of weight or you gain weight. I guess I am the latter. I can't seem to lose weight. I would like to learn how to accept myself and enjoy life. I don't feel attrative. I see so many large people on TV that seem to feel that they are just perfect the way they are. Some even get married at 350 lbs. I'm so happy for them.

lyme-disease-weight-_gainHow can I feel that way too? I am single, I have a few family members and close friends. They say I'm funny and fun to be with. I also love my job, taking care of kids. But, I can't bear to look at myself in the mirror. Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you considered following up with your doctor? If you are not on thyroid medicine ... I would suggest having your Anti Thyroid Antigen this will show the doctor if your immune system is inflaming your thyroid. Then they will give you medicine for it.

I heard of Lyme disease but usually the symptoms disappear with antibodic treatment ... it might be worth going to an infectious disease physician as they treat rocky mountain, lyme, viral infections. When you start feeling better you might be able to be more active. Also I want to say you might want to add extra light olive oil (tasteless) to cook your vegetables. This will add a "good" fat and make you less hungry. Blessings

I found someone who loves me for who I am despite being overweight. I met him online and he tells me that I am beautiful, which is hard for me to believe, but he sees it and I am starting to accept myself as I am. Also, it looks that although you are overweight, you strive to be as healthy as possible which is a good thing. Being healthy is far more important than a dress size.

Man that is tough. Hang in there. Do you work out? Taking a class at the gym or a good work out always makes me feel better. Maybe a support group of some kind will help.

Date online, it ain't all creeps out there.
